Landcare Receives Funding Boost for Dung Beetles
Riverina Highlands Landcare Network is embarking on a 2 year project to look at the opportunities for maximising the use of dung beetles to improve pasture condition. With funding secured from Meat and Livestock Australia, the project will conduct a series of field trials to measure changes in cattle dung pads as a result of dung beetle activity.
Fact Sheet-Dung Beetle Project2
As part of the field trials, up to five species of beetles will be released across 5 participating properties. The producers involved will be helping with monitoring species survival rates and their spread across the property as well as their effectiveness in processing the dung.
RHLN is looking for 5 properties geographically spread across the region to be involved in this trial. Landholders interested in being involved in the dung beetle trial should download a copy of the dung beetle project fact sheet and EOI.
